The National Recovery Administration (NRA) promoted economic recovery. Many African Americans and organizations wrote protests letters to NRA officials because agricultural and domestic jobs [occupations that included a vast majority of black workers] were not included in the codes of fair competition. Another major issue addressed by African American workers was the problem of unequal pay for equal work.
