Geographic Authority File

The Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names® (TGN) provided initial data values for the Geographic Reference and Jurisdiction elements.

NARA has been adding to and updating TGN to meet our descriptive needs. The Geographic Authority File is available through DAS; you can also browse the TGN itself through the Getty website at http://www.getty.edu/research/tools/vocabulary/tgn/.
