StoryMap: Background Information About Selected Nazi Concentration Camps

This interactive map provides a visual representation of the locations of selected Nazi concentration camps that were liberated by the U.S. Army in spring 1945. By selecting a site, you can easily access information relating to National Archives holdings about these selected camps and their subcamps. Related records at the National Archives include textual, still picture, motion picture, and cartographic materials. Among these are original camp records; records produced by U.S. Government agencies, both military and civilian; and captured German records, including evidence files assembled for war crimes proceedings. These records of both U.S. civil and military agencies include documentation developed through wartime intelligence and reconnaissance, captured during the camps’ liberation, and generated through postwar military investigations and tribunals.
