AS-8 - Dec 1968 - Earth Views, Lunar Surface, Interior Spacecraft Activity

This film from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is onboard footage of the Apollo 8 mission, the first crewed spaceflight to leave the Earth’s gravitational sphere and orbit the moon. The unedited color footage includes the first human-filmed images of the surface of the moon, as well as the first Earthrise.

The “home movies,” as they are referred to on cue cards written by the astronauts while filming, also capture astronauts Frank Borman, James Lovell, and William Anders at work inside the spacecraft.
