Memorandum to Federal Records Management Contacts: Updated Machine-Implementable General Records Schedule (GRS) File

We are happy to announce an update to the machine-implementable GRS file is now available. The update adds a new field containing the full disposition instruction in text form. We have also updated the associated FAQ to add this field to the record layout.

The machine-implementable version of the GRS is a resource for agencies. Agencies can upload the CSV file into records management systems to aid in applying the GRS to their records. 

We make updates based on the latest GRS transmittal information and also from suggestions by users. For example, we made this update in response to suggestions at a recent Microsoft 365 User Group meeting.
