Machine-Implementable GRS
The GRS in comma separated values (CSV) format helps agencies automate records disposition. This format translates disposition instructions into data. Computer applications can use this data to determine disposition dates for individual records. The CSV format is software independent. Agencies can change data fields as needed for their individual applications.
The file includes all approved GRS items, but not all items are machine-implementable. Some items are filing instructions or cannot be translated in the CSV file for other reasons. These items are marked in the file.
NARA has put together a list of Frequently Asked Questions. If you have additional questions or suggestions for improvement of the file, please contact GRS_Team@nara.gov.
