Memorandum to Federal Records Management Contacts: Updates to the Record Control Schedule (RCS) Repository Website

I’m pleased to announce that the Office of the Chief Records Officer has made updates to the Records Control Schedule (RCS) repository website. We have updated the following pages:

We also have a new email address to contact the Records Control Schedule Team managing the repository: RCS_Team@nara.gov.

The RCS repository is an informational resource containing copies of agency records schedules approved since 1973. Some of the items on these schedules may have become inactive or been superseded since they were approved. In many of these cases, we have marked the schedules and items as inactive. However, NARA cannot guarantee all schedules and items in the RCS are still in use by an agency. Federal record management staff should use the agency versions of records schedules when applying disposition instructions to federal records.

If your agency identifies any RCS schedules or items that should be marked as inactive, we encourage you to report them to RCS_Team@nara.gov using the How to Use the RCS to Review Agency Schedules: Instructions and Inactive Item Reporting Form.
