My Grandparents on both sides came from Baghdad. My mother's parents landed in New York City in 1914 and my mother just had her 99th birthday last month. She was born in NYC. My father came in 1928 and then they proceeded to bring all their relatives. In 1870's my Great, Great Grandfather was the Cheif Rabbi in Baghdad. By mid 1950's any Jews left in Baghdad were killed. My father showed me an article in the newspaper of a man hung in the Square for being a traitor. My father said he was the richest Jew and felt he could always pay to save his life.
