Executive for Agency Services

William P. Fischer

William Fischer was appointed Executive for Agency Services in January 2025. Previously, he served as the Director of the National Declassification Center since 2019. Mr. Fischer has over 25 years of experience in the field of archives, records management and information access. He has been a career member of the Senior Executive Service since 2019. Mr. Fischer served in a number of positions at the Department of State from 2008 to 2019, including Agency Records Officer, Chief of Declassification, and Deputy Director of the Office of Information Programs and Services. Prior to joining the Department of State in 2008, Mr. Fischer served in a variety of archival roles at NARA from 1998 to 2008.
