198.1 ADMINISTRATIVE HISTORY

Established: As an independent agency by the Transportation Act (54 Stat. 952), September 18, 1940. Extended by Presidential Proclamation of June 26, 1942.

Functions: Investigated and reported on the efficiency of carriers in transportation services, the extent to which carriers were aided by public funds, and the extent to which carriers were taxed by each level of government.

Abolished: September 18, 1944, pursuant to Presidential Proclamation 2559, June 26, 1944.
