Federal Records Management

AC 14.2019

March 11, 2019

MEMORANDUM TO FEDERAL AGENCY CONTACTS: Annual Records Management Reporting Tool Now Open.

Today, we opened the records management reporting period which covers activities in FY 2018 and runs from March 11, 2019, to April 19, 2019.

Agency Records Officers and those designated to respond to the 2018 Records Management Self-Assessment (RMSA) should have received today two separate links to enter your agency's data. One link is for the 2018 RMSA; the other link is for the Federal Email Management Report (FEMR). These links cannot be forwarded to other individuals, so it is imperative that we have the correct point-of-contact information for your agency. If you did not receive these links and think you should have, or if you received the links and are no longer responsible for completing the RMSA for your agency, please contact rmselfassessment@nara.gov as soon as possible.

We plan to publicly release your response to the email management report on archives.gov.

Additionally, your responses to questions in the RMSA may be subject to public release pursuant to FOIA. However, we will not release responses to RMSA questions that contain detailed descriptions of agency activities without consulting your agency.

As in previous years, we will be conducting a validation process. Your agency may be selected at random to provide additional documentation and/or take part in interviews to discuss your records management program activities.

You have until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time Friday, April 19, 2019, to complete the RMSA and email management report. We will be unable to accept submissions through the online system after this date.

If you have any questions regarding the RMSA and/or the Federal Email Management Report, please contact rmselfassessment@nara.gov.
