Classification 94: Research Matters
This classification was established in 1938 to handle research matters including general correspondence with the public, organizations, law enforcement officers, and the media. Originally these matters were contained in Classification 62. Many Classification 62 files were relocated to Classification 94.
In the Field Offices this classification covers research matters in a more narrow sense while most public relations material is found in classification 80. Headquarters files fall into six broad categories, some of which are also contained in classification 94 in the Field Offices. These categories include:
1. Correspondence
2. Movie, TV, and Radio Scripts
3. Mailing Lists
4. Parole Matters
5. FBI Training Materials
6. Speeches, Press Releases & Other Public Relations Matters.
