This record group includes records relating to:

  • international boundary commissions relating to the U.S. boundary;
     
  • international claims in which the United States was a party;
     
  • international arbitrations in which the United States acted as arbitrator; and
     
  • international arbitrations in which the United States was a party in the dispute.

Since World War II, most claims by the U.S. Government and by American citizens against foreign countries have been handled by the War Claims Commission (WCC), the International Claims Commission (ICC), and the Foreign Claims Settlement Commission (FCSC).  The records of those organizations are found in RG 299.  For more information, see this reference paper.
