MEMORANDUM TO FEDERAL AGENCY CONTACTS: Changes in the Office of the Chief Records Officer
Today, I am announcing that I am leaving NARA to become the new director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Library in Beltsville, Maryland.
I am very proud of the work the records management community has accomplished in the last several years as we work together to deliver on the goals in the joint OMB and NARA Directive on Managing Government Records. Be assured that NARA will continue to lead this work and provide guidance to our Federal stakeholders. The leadership of the National Archives and the staff in the Office of the Chief Records Officer remain fully committed to the successful implementation of the Managing Government Records Directive.
On October 19, I will continue my Federal Service as the director of the USDA’s National Agricultural Library (NAL). One of four U.S. national libraries, the NAL houses one of the world's largest collections devoted to agriculture and its related sciences. I will be responsible for leading this institution and its staff as it supports the USDA’s global agricultural research mission.
Laurence Brewer, NARA’s director of National Records Management Programs, will serve as acting Chief Records Officer. Laurence can be reached on 301-837-1539 or Laurence.Brewer@nara.gov.
