MEMORANDUM TO FEDERAL AGENCY CONTACTS: Records Management Self-Assessment 2015

The annual Records Management Self-Assessment (RMSA) period will run from November 16, 2015, to January 29, 2016.

Agency Record Officers and others officially assigned to respond to the 2015 RMSA will receive on November 16, 2015, a link to enter your agency's data. For security reasons, this link cannot be forwarded to other individuals so it is imperative that we have the correct point-of-contact information for your agency. If you are no longer responsible for completing the RMSA for your agency, please contact rmselfassessment@nara.gov by November 10, 2015.

Attached are MS Word and Fill-able PDF versions of the 2015 RMSA for your convenience to use while gathering information and compiling the official response. Please do not return either of these forms to us. Your agency's official response must be entered into the survey tool using the link described above.

In addition, this year the RMSA will ask if your agency has identified unscheduled records. If your agency has identified additional unscheduled records from what was reported last year, you should complete the attached spreadsheet and send it to rmselfassessment@nara.gov no later than January 29, 2016.

Please note that your responses to questions in this assessment may be subject to public release pursuant to FOIA. However, we will not release responses to questions that contain detailed descriptions of agency activities.

As in previous years we will be conducting a validation process. Your agency may be selected at random to provide additional documentation and/or take part in interviews to discuss your records management program activities.

You will have until 11:59 p.m. EST Friday, January 29, 2016, to complete the self-assessment. We will be unable to accept submissions through the online system after this date.
