Memorandum to Federal Records Management Contacts: Leadership changes in the Office of the Chief Records Officer for the U.S. Government

Today, I am announcing that I am leaving NARA on July 13, for a position with the Department of Justice as their Director, Office of Records Management Policy. 

I am very proud of the work the records management community has accomplished in the last several years as we work together to deliver on the goals and vision of transitioning to an electronic government and fully digital records management. 

Effective July 15, William P. Fischer, NARA’s Director of the National Declassification Center, will serve as acting Chief Records Officer until a  competitive search for a permanent appointment is completed. Bill can be reached at william.fischer@nara.gov.
