Memorandum to Federal Records Management Contacts: Issuance of New Scheduling Guides

We have issued six new Scheduling Guides for use. These guides provide advice on scheduling records common across the government. Although the records are common, their value varies from agency to agency. Because their value varies, they are not appropriate for a General Records Schedule.

The six new guides are:

• Guide 3: Scheduling Legal Records
• Guide 4: Scheduling Legislative & Congressional Affairs Records
• Guide 5: Scheduling Personal Data
• Guide 6: Scheduling Research & Development Records
• Guide 7: Scheduling Environmental Health & Safety Records

In October 2016, we issued Records Scheduling Guide #2: Scheduling Public Affairs Records.
