National Archives Microfilm Duplication Goes Fully Digital
Press Release · Wednesday, March 14, 2018

Washington, DC

Effective March 17th, 2018, the National Archives will no longer accept customer orders for film-to-film microfilm duplication. The National Archives Trust Fund (NATF) has been informed by their microfilm duplication vendor that they will be ceasing operations and will no longer be able to fulfill reproduction orders.

We have determined that the request volume for film to film reproductions does not warrant finding a replacement vendor.  Currently, more than 75 percent of requests for this service are for digitized copies. The National Archives will continue to provide digital reproductions of records currently stored on microfilm either through providing a DVD copy or via our electronic delivery system.

NATF will be reaching out directly to customers who in the past have placed large orders for film to film copies to notify them of this change to our service.
