Notice to National Archives Museum Visitors With Advance Reservations
Press Release · Thursday, March 14, 2013
Early closure of museum cancels reservations for 4:45 p.m. and later, March 15-Labor Day
Washington, DC…Federal budget issues have significantly affected the National Archives Timed Visit Entry reservation system. We share in the disappointment, and will do our best to help visitors come to the National Archives.
Starting on March 15, the National Archives will no longer have extended evening hours for its museum, affecting visitors with advanced reservations made through Recreation.gov. Exhibit spaces at the National Archives Building in Washington, DC, will now be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., every day. Visitors who have made Timed Visit Entry reservations for 4:45 p.m. and later for the period of March 15 through Labor Day should reschedule immediately.
Steps for rescheduling reservations:
- Contact Recreation.gov to reschedule. Tour groups should call Group Sales at 1-877-559-6777; individuals with reservations should call 1-877-444-6777.
- If you cannot reschedule, the National Archives will honor your reservation on the same day with unscheduled entry between 10:15 a.m. and 3 p.m. Bring your reservation confirmation to the Special Events entrance on Constitution Avenue near 7th Street. To help speed your process through security, we recommend not bringing bags into the museum.
Again, we apologize for the inconvenience to our visitors who have made reservations to visit the National Archives.
The National Archives is located on the National Mall on Constitution Avenue at 9th Street, NW, and is fully accessible. Metro Yellow or Green lines, Archives/Navy Memorial station. For information on National Archives public programs, call 202-357-5000, or view the Calendar of Events online.
