Mike Miller Appointed Director of Records Management Programs at NARA
Archivist of the United States John W. Carlin has announced the appointment of Michael Miller as Director of Records Management Programs for the National Archives and Records Administration. He will report to Dr. Michael Kurtz, Assistant Archivist for the Office of Records Services -- Washington, D.C., and will be responsible for directing and managing NARA's records management programs for Federal agencies including records management training, assistance and evaluation; records scheduling and appraisal, electronic records and Washington area records center services.
In making the appointment Carlin said, "Mike Miller has a broad background in archives and records management with specialized expertise in electronic records appraisal. His extensive experience in policy and program development and his innovative records management techniques will make him a valuable member of our team."
Prior to coming to NARA, for six years Dr. Miller served as National Program Manager for Records and as the Management and Agency Records Officer at the Enviromental Protection Agency. Dr. Miller has more than 20 years of experience as an archivist and as records manager with special expertise in electronic records. He has also taught courses on records management and electronic records at Catholic University and the University of Maryland.
