Henry Lewis Stimson (1867 –1950) served as Secretary of War under Presidents William H. Taft, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Harry S Truman. He was also Governor-General of the Philippines under Calvin Coolidge and Secretary of State under Herbert Hoover. The papers consist of personal and official correspondence spanning Stimson’s entire career, memoranda, minutes of meetings, notes on conversations and interviews, speeches, writings, and other public statements, as well as copies of selected official State Department records for the years 1929 to 1933. This collection does not include Stimson’s diaries.
