Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) was the 16th President of the United States. Lincoln led the United States through the Civil War and abolished slavery. Prior to entering politics, Lincoln was a lawyer. From 1985 to 2000, the Lincoln Legal Papers projects collected more than 96,000 documents, arranged by case, were published in DVD-ROM format as The Law Practice of Abraham Lincoln: Complete Documentary Edition, now available online. A selective 4-volume print edition of the series is available as well. The project expanded beyond Lincoln’s legal practice into The Papers of Abraham Lincoln, now within the Research Division of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum
