The Office of Alien Property and its predecessors used country codes in assigning case and account numbers. The country code forms a part of a longer numeric code that designates the country of which an enemy national was a citizen. For example, in the foreign vested property case file number F-28-5521, 28 indicates a German national. In the account number 34-1200, 34 is the code for Hungary, so the account is for a Hungarian national.
