On September 2, 2016, the Houston Museum of Natural Science will premiere the exhibition "Amending America: The Bill of Rights". To accompany the exhibition, the Museum will also host two original marquee documents from the collection of the National Archives and The Senate, including the 1789 Proposed Amendments to the U.S. Constitution as Passed by the Senate, and the 1788 New York Ratification of the Constitution.
"Amending America: The Bill of Rights" illustrates how America came to have the first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution. The exhibition gives an in-depth look at each amendment and how its protects our citizens, and features facsimile documents, reproduction artifacts, interactives, and videos to encourage the visitor to directly connect with the people, places, and events that mark the long history of the Bill of Rights.
You can view this exhibition at the Houston Museum of Natural Science from September 2, 2016 through January 8, 2017. This exhibition is touring the country as a part of the National Archives' Amending America Initiative that commemorates the 225th anniversary of the Bill of Rights. View additional information on the Amending America Initiative. The national tour is presented in part by AT&T, HISTORY®, and the National Archives Foundation.
Food. We love it, fear it, and obsess about it
We demand that our Government ensure that it is safe, cheap, and abundant. In response, Government has been a factor in the production, regulation, research, innovation, and economics of our food supply. It has also attempted, with varying success, to change the eating habits of Americans.
From the farm to the dinner table, "What's Cooking, Uncle Sam?" explores the records of the National Archives that trace the Government's effect on what Americans eat. You can view this exhibit currently on display at the Kansas Museum of History in Topeka, Kansas, through May 1, 2016.
This exhibition was created by the National Archives and Records Administration, Washington, D.C., with support from the Foundation for the National Archives. The national tour of "What's Cooking, Uncle Sam?" is made possible by Mars, Incorporated. Learn more about "What's Cooking, Uncle Sam?"
