Special Media Services Division stack area Stack areas at the National Archives at College
Park, Maryland, are furnished with shelving appropriate to the size and
type of records stored there. Most large items, including many drawings
in this exhibit, are placed in oversized chemically-stable file folders
and stored in large horizontal map cases. Large drawings, maps, charts,
and other documents are stored flat in order to avoid damage to their
edges and to prevent wear as a result of folding and unfolding.
