Program of the 1920 National American Woman Suffrage Association

This program is from the so-called “Victory Convention” of the National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA) and the League of Women Voters. Held February 12–18, 1920, the convention was held in celebration of the passage of the 19th Amendment on June 4, 1919. The NAWSA held conventions in the cause of women’s suffrage for 50 years, but the 1920 convention was held to: “rejoice that the struggle is over, the aim achieved, and the women of the nation about to enter into the enjoyment of their hard-earned political liberty.”

With the goal of women’s suffrage achieved, NAWSA transitioned into a new organization, the League of Women Voters at this convention. This group was formed to encourage women to vote and get them involved in political issues that concerned women.
