White Glove Wednesdays

Harry S. Truman Presidential Library
Independence, MO

Wednesday, September 18, 2024 - 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. CDT

Get up close and personal with some of the most unique artifacts at the Harry S. Truman Library and Museum on Wednesday, September 18. White Glove Wednesdays are when an archivist, curator, or technician selects a special item not generally displayed in the museum. On Wednesdays at 11 a.m., museum visitors can view the items up close, hear more from the experts, and ask questions about the artifacts.

White Glove Wednesdays are free with museum admission, and admission is always free for Truman Library Institute Members.

On September 18, we will showcase Amelia Earhart's pilot license issued in 1928 by the Federation Aeronautique Internationale and the National Aeronautic Association. The license was given to President Truman in 1949 by Max Narens who thought the item might interest Truman because of a magazine article that stated Truman was a “collector of prints dealing with aviation.”

All events listed in the calendar are free unless noted.
