Join us for a panel discussion and the kickoff of the national tour of the Ireichō book. Drawn from the National Archives holdings, “The Book” contains a comprehensive listing of over 125,000 persons of Japanese ancestry who were incarcerated as part of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Executive Order 9066. The program will delve into the impact and legacy of that time. Dr. Colleen Shogan, Archivist of the United States, will moderate the discussion with Dr. Anthea Hartig, Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History; Duncan Ryuken Williams, Irei Project and USC professor; Shirley Higuchi, Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation; and Ann Burroughs, Japanese American National Museum. Guests will have the rare opportunity to view the Ireichō and Executive Order 9066 as both will be on display for public viewing for the program.

This program is presented in partnership with the National Archives Foundation, The Irei Project, Japanese American National Museum, and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.
