“Operation Overlord,” more commonly known as D-Day, was the largest amphibious invasion in all military history. Over 150,000 soldiers from the United States, Great Britain, and Canada, along with nearly 7,000 surface watercraft and nearly 3,000 aircraft, invaded Europe to crush the German army and end World War II. In partnership with the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center and with collaboration from the Army University Press and the Imperial War Museum, we present a discussion about this momentous event. Moderated by Chris Mason of the U.S. Army War College panelists include Chris Carey, a documentary filmmaker with Army University Press; Hattie Hearn, curator with Imperial War Museums in England; and Allen Knechtmann, an archivist with the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center.
