Our Promise: 100 Years of the American Battle Monuments Commission (56 min.) depicts profound moments at ABMC sites around the world and stories from throughout its history. From misty mornings in Normandy to golden hours in the Philippines, the documentary is a tribute to the care America bestows on its fallen service members who have been laid to rest on foreign soil. The film captures the voices of families of the fallen as well as ABMC employees and Americans visiting sites abroad. It also shares the perspective of local citizens who work at the sites whose ancestors fought alongside Americans—imparting what it means to be part of caring for, maintaining, and honoring the legacy of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
To mark 100 years of commemoration, the American Battle Monuments Commission released this documentary to honor both the sacrifice of our fallen and the dedication of ABMC staff to ensure we fulfill our unique mission. It showcases the agency's ongoing work to preserve the legacy of those memorialized at our sites as well as the evolution of our mission into a new century of service.
Established by Congress in 1923, the American Battle Monuments Commission commemorates the service, achievements, and sacrifice of U.S. Armed Forces. ABMC administers 26 overseas military cemeteries and 32 memorials, monuments, and markers.
