Our Promise: 100 Years of The American Battle Monuments Commission
Library Building Auditorium
Nov 14-17 at 12 p.m. (noon) central time

When the United States entered World War II in December 1941, Dwight D. Eisenhower was serving as Chief of Staff of the 3rd Army. By December 1943 he became Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, leading him to the difficult decision he would have to make on June 4th, 1944: launch operation overlord, the greatest amphibious invasion in the history of the world or wait for better weather.

The outcome of this decision would become D-Day and the invasion of Nazi Occupied Europe. ABMC’s Normandy American Cemetery contains the graves of 9,387 of our military dead, most of whom lost their lives in the D-Day landings and ensuing operations.

As part of the 2023 program “Difficult Decisions”, The Eisenhower Presidential Library, Museum & Boyhood Home, will show ABMC’s centennial documentary "Our Promise: 100 Years of The American Battle Monuments Commission", at noon Tuesday November. 14 – Friday November 17, in the library building auditorium.

"Our Promise: 100 Years of The American Battle Monuments Commission", is a 56-minute film that embodies the essence of preserving the legacy of those who gave their lives for their country and the Commission's dedication to maintaining and honoring their memory.
