Constance is a native Marylander and Kent, a third-generation Japanese American, was born in Virginia and spent his formative years living in Japan where he attended the American School. Constance earned her B.A. from Notre Dame of Maryland University and M.S. in Business from Johns Hopkins University. She is a member of the Authors Guild, Eastern Shore Writers' Association, Historical Novel Society, and Women's National Book Association, and served on the Board of Directors of the Maryland Writers' Association. Constance is an Advisory Council Member and Chair of the Working Group on Nuclear Issues for the International Center for Multi-Generational Legacies of Trauma. Kent Matsumoto graduated from the University of Virginia and University of Michigan Law School. He has worked in law firms and public companies, serves on for-profit and non-profit boards, and has authored articles for professional publications. 

 

Constance and Kent live in Greenville, Delaware. Of White Ashes is their first novel—a 2024 winner of the Independent Book Publishers Benjamin Franklin silver award in historical fiction, 2024 winner of the Next Generation Indie Book Awards in historical fiction and finalist in the first novel category, 2023 runner up winner of the Pencraft Awards for Literary Excellence in historical fiction, 2023 finalist for the American Book Fest Best Book Award in multi-cultural fiction, and finalist for the 18th Annual National Indie Excellence Awards in Asian American & Pacific Islander Fiction. www.matsumotobooks.com
