Jenny McMillen Sweeney, an archivist at the National Archives at Fort Worth, describes the records of the Extension Service—some of the most interesting and underutilized records held at the National Archives. You just never know what you might find! These records provide a glimpse into rural life during the first part of the 20th century. Although the records are not the typical vital records genealogists seek, they may help family history enthusiasts learn more about the lives of their ancestors.
