In celebration of Jewish American Heritage Month, Pamela Nadell, American University history professor and author of America’s Jewish Women, weaves together stories of a diverse group of extraordinary people. From the colonial-era matriarch Grace Nathan and her great-granddaughter, poet Emma Lazarus, to labor organizer Bessie Hillman and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, to scores of other activists, suffragists, wives, and mothers, these women helped carve out a Jewish American identity. A book signing follows the program.
Presented in partnership with Capitol Jewish Museum.
