National Archives Applied Research
Applied Research is located under the National Archives Office of Information Services, and is responsible for fostering innovation nearest the customer, to work with front-line staff to understand customers' needs, and to work with internal NARA units, Research Partners, and external communities of practice to leverage new theories, knowledge, methods, and techniques to advance the lifecycle of electronic records.
Advanced Research Projects with Archival Science, Computer Science, and Engineering research partners focus on:
(a) Computational, security and data management requirements for lifecycle management of electronic records, not available in the marketplace.
(b) Emerging technologies that offer promise for addressing or improving responses to requirements for lifecycle management of electronic records.
(c) Archival and information sciences to improve the conceptual foundation for analyzing, evaluating and applying information technology across the lifecycle of records.
