MEMORANDUM TO FEDERAL AGENCY CONTACTS: NARA's Agency Services Bimonthly Records and Information Discussion Group (BRIDG) Meeting on Tuesday, December 6, 2011

This memorandum is being reissued to include a review of the Presidential Memorandum on the agenda and the availability of an online-only Agency Services-BRIDG meeting on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at 11 a.m. EST. This online-only session will be a repeat of the information presented at the in-person meeting. For log-in information, see "Information on online-only BRIDG session (December 7)" below.

Revised information on the in-person BRIDG meeting (December 6)

The December 6, 2011, meeting will be held at the National Archives building in Washington, D.C., 700 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW (Metrorail's Yellow or Green lines to the Archives/Navy Memorial station) in the McGowan Theater. Please enter on the Constitution Avenue side of the building. The Agency Services-BRIDG meeting will start at 10 a.m. EST and run until approximately 12 p.m. EST.

Meeting agenda items include the following:

  • Presentation on e-FRC David Miller will give an update on the e-FRC--the system the Federal Records Center Program is developing to help agencies store, access, preserve, and manage born-digital records. The presentation will include an update on the current pilot of the system and an overview of system capabilities and milestones.

  • Records Management Services Overview Margaret Hawkins, the new Director of Records Management Services, will discuss the new organizational structure of the unit, including how this will affect the current appraisal teams.

  • ERA Agency Adoption Mike Carlson will give a presentation on the status of the ERA rollout and the 2012 annual accessioned records move.

  • President's Records Management Memorandum Louise Guenther of the Records Management Policy Section will review the NARA guidance issued to agencies in response to the newly issued President's Records Management Memorandum. This Memorandum launches the records management part of the Domestic Open Government Initiative.

Pre-BRIDG Networking Hour

This meeting also marks the launch of our Pre-BRIDG Networking Hour from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.. Join your records management colleagues from other agencies and NARA Agency Services staff from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. in the Jefferson Room (Mezzanine Level of the National Archives Building) to chat over doughnuts and coffee. Feel free to bring materials to share from your agency (announcements of upcoming RM-related events, job openings, etc.).

To reserve a place for the Agency Services-BRIDG meeting and/or the pre-BRIDG networking hour, please provide your name, telephone number, and agency via email to RM.Communications@nara.gov, no later than Friday, December 2, 2011. You may reserve places for several staff in the same email, but for security purposes we must have each individual's name and telephone number. To attend the pre-BRIDG networking hour, you must RSVP in your email response. We need to determine an accurate headcount for catering.

If you would like to RSVP for the online-only Agency Services-BRIDG meeting on December 7, 2011, at 11 a.m. EST, please respond with your name, telephone number, and agency via email to RM.Communications@nara.gov, no later than Tuesday, December 6, 2011.

Meetings WILL BE CANCELLED if the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) announces a "closed," "unscheduled leave," "liberal leave," or "delayed arrival" policy for Federal employees for that day or if there has been an elevation to threat level RED in the Homeland Security status.
