Roads shown in red were reconnoitered; roads shown in blue were

taken from township maps and other sources. Double, dotted, and

broken lines differentiate between public or main roads,

settlement roads, and trails. County boundaries and prairies are

shown in color. Also shows swamp or overflowed lands, drainage

features, railroad lines, and names of some residents. Some

relief is indicated by hachures. Noted "Engineer Department,

Washington, July 17, 1865. Received with Maj. McAlester's letter

of July 5, 1865." Title is preceded by "Dep't. Trans. Miss.,

Topographical Bureau." Map also has the emblem of the
