National Archives Announces Six Regional Archives Fellowships for 2013
Press Release · Thursday, January 24, 2013

Washington, DC

Washington, DC…The National Archives today announced its Regional Fellowship Program for 2013. Six Fellows will be selected to conduct scholarly research in United States history, based on original research at six National Archives regional facilities.

Six fellows will have the opportunity to explore the wealth of regional National Archives holdings - one fellow each for National Archives facilities in Boston, Denver, Fort Worth, Riverside, San Francisco, and St. Louis. Each fellow will receive a $3,000 stipend for travel and research expenses. The Foundation for the National Archives generously provided stipends for the Fellowship.

Proposals for the 2013 Fellowship will be accepted by mail or e-mail by March 15, 2013. Applicants must apply directly to the National Archives facility where they wish to conduct research. Fellowship awards will be announced May 1, 2013. Instructions to apply for the Fellowship are posted at: http://blogs.archives.gov/prologue/?p=11587.

The Fellowship recipients are expected to complete a research project that results in a publishable product. The recipients will also prepare a short report (within one year of receiving the Fellowship) for publication by the National Archives that describes their research experience: the discovery, method, and use of the records. In addition, Fellows will brief the National Archives regional staff on their research discoveries.

Academic and independent historians, public and local historians, and writers are encouraged to apply. Current National Archives employees and contractors or their immediate family members are not eligible.
