National Declassification Center to Host Public Forum on August 23rd

The National Archives National Declassification Center (NDC) will host its second Open Public Forum on Tuesday, August 23, at 10:00 A.M. in the William G. McGowan Theater of the National Archives Building in Washington, DC. Please enter via the special events entrance on Constitution Ave. and 7th St., NW. See directions.

NDC Director Sheryl Shenberger and Presidential Materials Staff Director Nancy Smith will provide an update on declassification progress in Federal records and Presidential Libraries. They will also discuss the third Bi-Annual NDC Status Report [www.archives.gov/declassification/reports/2011-biannual-january1-june30.html].

The forum will include a panel discussion moderated by National Archives Agency Services Executive Jay Bosanko and feature declassification professionals from the Department of State, Department of Energy, Central Intelligence Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation and Joint Staff (Department of Defense). The panelists will discuss their participation in the NDC and share their perspective on NDC operations to date. The forum will conclude with a question and answer session with members of the public.

The National Declassification Center, located at the National Archives College Park, MD, facility, was established in accordance with Executive Order 13526, by Archivist David S. Ferriero on December 30, 2009.
