Thousands of newly discovered documents by a famed American man of letters

WHAT:  FOR MEDIA ONLY:  To mark the 150th Anniversary of Fort Sumter and the start of the Civil War, the National Archives will unveil newly discovered original Civil War-related records written by one of America’s most famous authors. Several original records pertaining to this discovery will be displayed for the media at the event.

April 12, 2011, is the 150th Anniversary of the battle of Fort Sumter in 1861, marking the start of the American Civil War in Charleston, SC.
