Media Briefing on National Archives Electronic Records Archives

WHAT: The National Archives will hold a one-time only briefing to update the media on the progress of the Electronic Records Archives (ERA). Begun in 2005, ERA is the National Archives signature program built to ensure that the government’s electronic records with lasting value are preserved and made accessible into the future and to automate the National Archives management of the lifecycle of all government records. The briefing will focus on the first two increments of the system: the creation of ERA Base which provides lifecycle management, inspection and storage of Federal electronic records; and loading and searching records of the Bush Administration; and will then look ahead to next steps.
