NHPRC and NARA Recognize Teachers for National History Day
Each year for National History Day, the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) and National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) recognize a teacher and his or her student(s) for outstanding use of documentary sources in their entry. This year at the National History Day awards ceremony held at Cole Field House on the University of Maryland Campus in College Park, Maryland, on June 13, NHPRC Program Director Nancy Sahli (left) presented Melanie Howell (center) with the NARA award for the Outstanding Entry Using Documentary Sources and her teachers Connie Brown (right) and Kent Rettig (not present) with the NHPRC Teacher Award for Innovative Use of Primary Sources in the Classroom. The winners are from Pensacola High School, Pensacola, Florida. For information on National History Day, contact Dr. Cathy Gorn, Executive Director, at (301) 314-9739 or by e-mail at cgorn@aol.com.
