Hearings on the Social Security Bill were held by the House Ways and Means Committee in January and February 1935. The list of witnesses was long, including economists, representatives of business and labor groups, social workers, the Surgeon General of the United States, congressmen, and representatives of groups such as the American Medical Association, League of Women Voters, and American Association for Social Security.
