National Archives Presents "Know Your Records" Genealogy Workshop Series

Kansas City, (MO)...The National Archives at Kansas City will present in partnership with the National Archives in Washington, DC, the following “Know Your Records” workshops via videoconferencing. All workshops are free and open to the public and will be held at the National Archives at Kansas City, 400 West Pershing Road, Kansas City, MO.
Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. Researching via Footnote.com. The National Archives at Kansas City and the National Archives in Washington, DC, will broadcast via interactive distance learning information on how to use Footnote.com as a helpful research tool.
Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 2:00pm Documenting Death in the Civil War The National Archives at Kansas City and the National Archives in Washington, DC, will broadcast John Deeben, genealogy archives specialist, who will discuss how to use Federal records to document death during the Civil War era.
Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 2:00pm Civil War Medicine The National Archives at Kansas City and the National Archives in Washington, DC, will broadcast via interactive distance learning Archives specialist Rebecca Sharp and reference librarian Nancy Wing who will discuss and present information on how to research Civil War medicine using Federal records.

The National Archives at Kansas City is one of 13 facilities nationwide where the public has access to Federal archival records. It is home to more than 50,000 cubic feet of historical records dating from the 1820s to the 1990s created or received by nearly 100 Federal agencies. Serving the Central Plains Region, the archives holds records from the states of Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota. The facility is located at 400 West Pershing Road, Kansas City, MO 64108. The National Archives at Kansas City is open Tuesday–Saturday 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. for exhibits viewing and Tuesday–Saturday from 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. for research.
