Giving the Flu the Cold Shoulder – The National Archives is partnering with the American Red Cross to host flu shot clinics. Shots are available to the public for $25, payable by cash or check. While at the Archives, visitors are encouraged to visit the It’s Big! exhibit to learn more about the Big Epidemic of the 1918 influenza virus.
November 10, 6 p.m. Genealogy Workshop Series: National Archives staff will present an introduction to genealogy research and records housed at the archives. Topics will include census, military, naturalization and immigration records.
The National Archives and National World War One Museum will present the “Gary Cooper Goes to War” Film Series this fall.
November 11, 1 p.m. Gary Cooper Goes to War film series sponsored by the National Archives & National World War One Museum. The National World War One Museum will show Gary Cooper: American Life, American Legend, narrated by Clint Eastwood and directed by film historian Richard Schickel. The film will be introduced by his daughter Maria Cooper Janis. The program will take place in the J.C. Nichols Auditorium at 100 West 26th Street, Kansas City, MO.
November 12, 6 p.m. Armistice and Influenza: A Kansas City Hospital in France in the First World War panel discussion with authors Fred Holmes, Grace Holmes, Nancy Hulston and Anthony Kovac on their research about Army Base Hospital No. 28 in Limoges, France during World War I.
November 14, 10 a.m. Indian Study Group: Dawes Rolls Genealogist Shirley Donaldson will conduct a workshop on the Dawes Rolls.
November 21, 10 a.m. Genealogy Workshop Series: National Archives staff will present information on military records, specifically how to go about requesting copies and what is held at the National Archives.
November 27, Noon Brown Bag Lunch Series: Headstone Applications Join archives staff as we present our Let’s Get Reacquainted! recorded lecture series on various genealogy topics. This month we will feature Headstone Applications. Archives staff will be available for questions.
November 28, 1 p.m. From the Curator: It’s Big Join our curatorial staff on a special guided tour through our exhibits and answer questions. This month will feature a behind the scenes look at the It’s Big! exhibit.

December 5, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Holiday Open House at The Kansas City Store at the National Archives. Visit The Kansas City Store to begin the holiday shopping season. Partake in holiday cookies and cider while selecting stocking stuffers and gifts.
December 19, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m Celebrate the Holidays with the National Archives – includes a visit from Santa and his Cyber Sleigh, family activities including holiday music, a children’s "make and take" ornament activity and book presentations on a “Frontier Army Christmas” and “Christmastime in Kansas City.” The Cyber Sleigh includes warp thruster engines that make the Cyber Sleigh fly faster and higher than anything else in the world. An amazing light and stereo system make the Cyber Sleigh look and sound like nothing else. The Sleigh is decorated in “Christmas Red” with fancy gold trim all around. Its lights twinkle and glow. Santa only uses this Sleigh on special occasions.
