Office of the Inspector General – Physical site is College Park, MD
- Provide support to the Audit and Investigations staffs
Assist members of the Audit staff in conducting analyses and examinations of agency programs and operations including, but not limited to information resources management, contracting operations, and management controls. Assist in examination of records, documents, and interviews, primarily within the agency. Assist in performing administrative duties necessary in completing audit assignments. May support the Investigations staff in conducting investigations and investigative surveys. This position will familiarize the intern with federal government audit and investigations standards and practices.
Special Requirements – The intern must have excellent oral and written communication skills. A basic knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet computer programs is preferred.

Policy and Planning Staff – Physical site is College Park, MD
- Provide staff support to policy and program analysis projects
Assist in a broad range of policy and program analysis work, including but not limited to:– Tracking progress on the NARA Strategic Plan
This position familiarizes the intern with the policy development, coordination, and implementation process at NARA and provides an excellent opportunity to learn about the various programs of the agency nationwide.
– Participating in ad hoc studies of management controls and audit followup
– Responding to and coordinating with units of NARA on a wide variety of policy initiatives
Special Requirements – The intern must have excellent oral and written communication skills. - Assist in developing administrative and program-related directives.
Assist in drafting and revising internal directives relating to administrative and program procedures. This position will expose interns to the administrative review and analysis process, allow interns to interact with agency officials on a broad range of topics, and challenge interns' oral and written communications skills.

- Assist with online access projects
Assist in a broad range of projects related to the quality and richness of data in the NARA online catalog, including but not limited to:– Converting legacy finding aids, folder lists, incexes, and data received from NARA digitization partners into catalog descriptions that meet current NARA description standards
– Adding digital objects to descriptions in the online catalog
– Reviewing archival descriptions submitted to the online catalog for compliance with current NARA description standards
– Conducting research, creating authority records, and enhancing authority records for the topical subject, person, or organization authority files.Special Requirements – The intern must have excellent written communication skills and attention to detail. We are looking for an intern with interest, education, and/or experience in archival description or cataloging; indexing; XML; web-based information; and/or library authority cataloging.
